Short Stay Visas

Documents Required

Visa Application Form

• A duly completed and signed VisaOnWeb application form with a barcode.

Passport

• Valid for at least three months beyond the visa expiry date.
• Issued within the last 10 years.
• Must contain two blank pages for visa stamps.

Passport Copy

• Photocopy of the passport bio-page showing personal details and photo.

Photographs

• Two UK passport-sized photos (3.5cm x 4.5cm).
• Colour photos with a plain white background.
• Must be less than three months old.

UK Residency

• Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.

Travel Insurance

• Must cover the entire Schengen area.
• Minimum coverage of €30,000 for medical emergencies, hospitalisation, and repatriation.
• EHIC cards are not accepted.

Proof of Travel

• A reserved return ticket to the UK or onward travel confirmation.

Proof of Accommodation

• For Tourist Visa Applicants:
  • A confirmed hotel booking covering the entire stay.
• For Family or Friends Visit Applicants:
  • A certificate of board and lodging (official sponsorship form) from the Belgian host.
  • If no sponsorship form is provided:
    • A copy of the host’s passport bio-page or residence permit in Belgium.
    • Proof of family relationship, if applicable.

Proof of Finance

• UK bank account statements covering the last three months, showing sufficient funds.
• Credit card statements indicating the credit limit.

Employment/Study Status (Not older than 30 days & depending on applicant’s situation)

• Employed Applicants:
  • Recent official letter from employer confirming job position, salary, and leave approval.
  • Last three months’ payslips.
• Self-Employed Applicants:
  • Letter from a registered accountant, solicitor, or banker confirming self-employment.
  • Self-assessment tax return form from HMRC.
• Students:
  • Official letter from school, college, or university confirming enrolment, course details, and attendance record.

For Unemployed/Retired or Sponsored Applicants

(Not older than 30 days)

If you are unemployed, retired, or financially dependent on a sponsor, you must provide the following additional documents:

• Proof of Financial Support from Sponsor (Original, Copy)

  • A signed sponsorship letter stating the relationship between the applicant and the sponsor.
  • Declaration of financial responsibility for the duration of stay.

• Sponsor’s Proof of Finance (Original, Copy)

  • Recent bank statements (last three months).
  • Latest payslips (last three months) or employment contract.
  • Tax return or proof of income from the last financial year.

• Sponsor’s Identification (Copy)

  • Passport or national identity card.
  • UK residency permit (if applicable).

• Proof of Accommodation by Sponsor (Original, Copy) (if staying with a sponsor in Belgium)

  • A signed invitation letter from the host.
  • Proof of address (e.g., utility bill, rental agreement).

• For Retired Applicants

  • Pension statements or proof of retirement income (last three months).
  • Savings account statements (if applicable).

• For Unemployed Applicants

  • Proof of previous employment history (if applicable).
  • Any other relevant documentation demonstrating financial stability.

For Minors (Under 18 Years Old)

• Birth certificate.
• If travelling alone or with one parent, additional documents required:
  • Consent letter signed by both parents or the legal guardian.
  • Certified copies of both parents’ passports.
  • School confirmation letter.

Additional Supporting Documents (if applicable)

• For Family or Friends Visit Visa:
  • Proof of family relationship with the host (birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.).
• For Both Visas:
  • Evidence of property ownership or financial stability in the applicant’s home country.
  • Proof of family ties to establish strong reasons for return.

Important Notes

• All documents must be in English, French, Dutch, or German. Foreign official documents must be legalised or carry an apostille unless exempted by treaty.
• Submission of all required documents does not guarantee visa approval.
• Additional documents may be requested by the Belgian authorities if necessary.
