National Visa

Documents Required

Visa Application Form

• Two duly completed and signed VisaOnWeb application forms with a barcode.

Photographs

• Four UK passport-sized photos (3.5cm x 4.5cm).
• Colour photos with a plain white background.
• Must be less than three months old.

Passport

• Valid for at least 12 months from the date of visa issuance.
• Issued within the last 10 years.
• Must contain two blank pages side by side.

UK Residency

• Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.

Proof of Relationship

• Marriage, birth, or civil partnership certificates (Original + Copy).
• No legalization is required if issued by an EU Member State or the UK.
• If issued outside the EU or UK, documents must be legalized/apostilled by the competent authority in the issuing country and verified by the Belgian Embassy.
• If the document is not in English, French, Dutch, or German, it must be officially translated.

Supporting Documents Based on the Family Member You Are Joining

1.Family Reunification with a Belgian Citizen (Art. 40Ter)

Additional Required Documents:

• Proof of ID of the Belgian citizen (Copy of Belgian ID or passport).
• Proof of local medical insurance and social security.
• Proof of sufficient accommodation.
• Proof of stable, regular, and sufficient income.

2.Family Reunification with an EU Citizen (Art. 40bis)

Additional Required Documents:

• Proof that the EU citizen has exercised their right to free movement (Proof of residence in Belgium).
• Proof of sufficient financial means.
• Proof of accommodation.

Important: If you are visa-exempt, you must apply directly in Belgium at the local town hall instead of applying for a visa.

3. Family Reunification with a Temporary Resident in Belgium (Art. 10bis)

Additional Required Documents:

• Copy of the Belgian residence card of the person to be joined (Card A or H).
• Proof that the person to be joined is at least 21 years old (or 18 if the marriage predates their arrival in Belgium).
• Certificate of good conduct (ACRO/Police Certificate, legalized if required).
• Medical certificate from a Belgian Embassy-approved doctor.
• Proof of sufficient financial means and accommodation.

4. Family Reunification with a Work Permit Holder (Art. 10bis§3)

Additional Required Documents:

• Proof that the person to be joined holds a Work Permit or Single Permit (Copy of Annex 46 or Work Permit Card).
• Copy of the Belgian residence card of the person to be joined.
• Proof of sufficient financial means and accommodation.

5. Family Reunification with a Resident with No Restrictions (Art. 10)

Additional Required Documents:

• Proof that the person to be joined has been a resident in Belgium for at least 12 months (Belgian residence card B, C, D, F, or F+).
• Proof that the person to be joined is at least 21 years old (or 18 if the marriage predates their arrival in Belgium).
• Proof of local medical insurance and social security.
• Proof of sufficient accommodation and financial means.

Special Requirements for Minors

For children under 18 joining a parent:

• Proof of sole custody or legal guardianship (if applicable).
• Authorization letter from the other parent + their passport copy (if joint custody).

Additional Notes

• All documents must be in English, French, Dutch, or German.
• If documents are missing, the applicant has 30 days to submit them.
• Submission of documents does not guarantee visa approval.
• The Embassy may request additional supporting documents.
