Long-Stay Work Permit Visa for Belgium

Overview

The Belgium Work Permit Visa allows non-UK citizens residing in the UK to work in Belgium for more than 90 days. This visa requires applicants to have a valid work permit and residence permit, granted through a single permit application process lodged by the employer with the relevant regional authority in Belgium.

Important Notice:

  • The single permit application for both work and residence must be submitted by the employer in Belgium to the regional authorities.
  • The Embassy is not involved in this process until the work and residence permit is approved.
  • Once the Single Permit (Annex 46) is granted, the applicant can submit their visa application.
  • Some categories, such as au pair workers, require a separate work permit instead of a single permit.

Visa processing times may vary. Applicants should wait for their work and residence permit approval before applying for a visa.

Documents Required

Single Permit (For Employees with Work & Residence Permit)

Applicants must submit two sets of documents: one original set and one set of copies.

Visa Application Form

    • Two duly completed and signed VisaOnWeb application forms with barcodes.

Photographs

    • Four UK passport-sized photos (3.5cm x 4.5cm).
    • Colour photos with a plain white background.
    • Must be less than three months old.

Passport

    • Valid for at least 12 months from the date of visa issuance.
    • Issued within the last 10 years.
    • Must contain two blank pages side by side.

UK Residency

    • Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.

Annex 46 (Single Permit Authorisation)

    • Original and two copies of the work and residence permit approval issued by Belgian authorities.

Work Permit (For Employees Requiring a Separate Work Permit)

Applicants must submit two sets of documents: one original set and one set of copies.

Visa Application Form

  • Two duly completed and signed VisaOnWeb application forms with barcodes.

Photographs

Proof of Work Permit Approval

  • Original and a copy of the work permit card issued by Belgian authorities.

Proof of Payment of Contribution Fee

  • Two copies of the payment receipt for the Belgian Immigration Office fee.
  • Refer to the Belgian Immigration website for the applicable fee and payment method.

Certificate of Good Conduct

  • Original and a copy of an official certificate of good conduct, covering at least the last 12 months.
  • Must be legalised and issued by UK authorities (DBS certificates are not accepted).

Medical Certificate

  • Original and a copy of a medical certificate issued by a Belgian Embassy-approved doctor.
  • If the medical certificate was already submitted to the Belgian authorities, a photocopy is required.

Important Notes

  • All documents must be in English, French, Dutch, or German. Foreign official documents must be legalised or carry an apostille unless exempted by treaty.
  • The submission of documents does not guarantee visa approval.

Additional documents may be requested by the Belgian authorities if necessary.
