Long-Stay Professional Card Visa for Belgium

Overview

The Belgium Professional Card Visa  is required for non-UK citizens residing in the UK who wish to establish a self-employed business or carry out independent professional activities in Belgium for more than 90 days. Before applying for this visa, applicants must obtain a Professional Card, which is granted by the regional authorities in Belgium.

Important Notice:

  • A pre-application for the Professional Cardmust be submitted to the Embassy of Belgium in London via email.
  • The decision to grant a Professional Cardis made by the relevant regional authority in Belgium.
  • The Embassy does not process professional card applications—applicants must check the Belgian embassy websitefor full details on how to apply.
  • Once the Professional Card is granted, the applicant can submit their visa applicationto travel and work in Belgium.

Visa processing times may vary. It is recommended to begin the Professional Card application process well in advance before submitting the visa request.

Documents Required

Work Permit (For Employees Requiring a Separate Work Permit)

Applicants must submit two sets of documents: one original set and one set of copies.

Visa Application Form

  • Two duly completed and signed VisaOnWeb application forms with barcodes.

Photographs

  • Four UK passport-sized photos (3.5cm x 4.5cm).
  • Colour photos with a plain white background.
  • Must be less than three months old.

Passport

  • Valid for at least 12 months from the date of visa issuance.
  • Issued within the last 10 years.
  • Must contain two blank pages side by side.

UK Residency

  • Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.

Proof of Payment of Contribution Fee

  • Two copies of the payment receipt for the Belgian Immigration Office fee.
  • Refer to the Belgian Immigration website for the applicable fee and payment method.

Medical Certificate

  • Original and a copy of a medical certificate issued by a Belgian Embassy-approved doctor.

Professional Card Decision

  • Original and two copies of the official decision from the Belgian regional authority granting the Professional Card.

Important Notes

  • All documents must be in English, French, Dutch, or German. Foreign official documents must be legalised or carry an apostille unless exempted by treaty.
  • The submission of documents does not guarantee visa approval.
  • Additional documents may be requested by the Belgian authorities if necessary.
