Belgium Student Visa

Hassle-free visa processing for your travel needs.

 Overview

The Belgium Student Visa allows non-EU nationals, including UK residents, to pursue long-term studies in Belgium for more than 90 days. This visa applies to individuals enrolling in:

  • Private educational institutions (Art. 9 & 13)
  • Higher education institutions such as universities and colleges (Art. 58 & 59)

Applicants must obtain admission from a recognized educational institution and provide proof of financial means to support their stay. The decision on visa approval is taken by the Belgian Immigration Office, and processing times may vary.

Important Notice:

  • Two identical sets of documents (original + copies) must be submitted.
  • Foreign official documents must be legalized or apostilled, unless exempted by treaty.
  • The Embassy may request additional documents.

Processing Time

Processing times depend on administrative verification. It is recommended to apply at least 8-12 weeks in advance to avoid delays.

Documents Required

Visa Application Form

  • Two duly completed and signed VisaOnWeb application forms with a barcode.

Photographs

  • Four UK passport-sized photos (3.5cm x 4.5cm).
  • Colour photos with a plain white background.
  • Must be less than three months old.

Passport

  • Valid for at least 12 months from the date of visa issuance.
  • Issued within the last 10 years.
  • Must contain two blank pages side by side.

UK Residency

  • Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.

Proof of Registration / Admission Letter

  • Private Educational Institutions: Official confirmation of registration from the institution.
  • Higher Education Institutions: Proof of admission from a recognized university or college.
  • For KUL (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven): A printed email confirmation is accepted.

Proof of Payment of Contribution Fee

  • If required, payment receipt for the Foreign Affairs Ministry fee.

Supporting Documents

Cover Letter (Private Institutions Only)

  • Explaining reasons for choosing the course, including why it is not available in the applicant’s home country.
  • A concise description of the program and expected benefits.

Proof of Finance

  • Proof of sufficient funds to cover tuition, accommodation, and living expenses.
  • Bank statements for at least the last three months.
  • Scholarship confirmation (if applicable).

Proof of Health Insurance

  • Private health insurance covering all risks in Belgium.
  • Minimum coverage of €30,000 for medical costs.

Certificate of Good Conduct

  • Original and a copy of an ACRO/Police Certificate, covering at least the last year.
  • Must be legalized if required.

Medical Certificate

  • Original and a copy issued by a Belgian Embassy-approved doctor in London.

Academic Qualifications

  • Diplomas, academic records, or proof of eligibility for higher education.
  • If applicable, attestation of equivalence of qualifications.

Additional Notes

  • If documents are missing, the applicant has 30 days to submit them before the Immigration Office can declare the application inadmissible.
  • All documents must be in English, French, Dutch, or German.
  • The submission of documents does not guarantee visa approval.
  • Additional supporting documents may be requested by the Belgian authorities.
